The Race: Royal Parks Palace Half Marathon

Who we ran with: Team FitBit

How far did we go? 13.1 miles

Plodded upon: Roads and trails

What did we wear:

  • Bra – Sweaty Betty
  • Top  – Sweaty Betty
  • Leggings  – Sweaty Betty
  • Shoes – Saucony

Where’d we go?

Started in the gorgeous Hyde Park out through Wellington Arch up Constitution Hill and past the Buckingham Palace. Along St James’s Park, then out to Covent Garden. We looped all the way back to Hyde Park where we zigzagged back and forth to take in the full beauty of this mass green space in the centre of London. Finishing up where we kicked off.

We LOVED…

The crowds! What an amazing turn out for a half marathon. It was also a very flat course, so if there are any hill haters out there this one is for you.

We Struggled…

At mile 6 we ran past a switch back where the other runners were at mile 10…slightly depressing!

Why this Race…

It is right on our door step so there was really no excuse. It goes through Hyde Park, St James’ Park, Green Park, and Kensington Gardens so offers up a lovely scenic view for a city race.

Famous Faces…

FatBoy Slim!

Lisa, who we met on a run at The Hillside Beach Club in Turkey.z

Mid run Brainwave…

H – *I can tell E is struggling. Maybe if I tell her we are on track for a PB she will get a shift on*

SPOILER ALERT: we got a PB

Rocket Fuel…

Overnight oats for breakfast…as always!

This was our first half marathon that we have done with no water or snacks (they are available on the course though).

Number 1 Fan…

Nick, team Fitbit’s designated camera man. He cycles all over the course to make sure he snapped each Fitbit runner.
